SHORT STORY

My first short story, THE EASY WAY OUT, is up in podcast form at this link:
http://lit1033.com/2009/12/03/thoughts-of-my-father-by.aspx
It’s about a superhero who loses his powers. Under a thousand words, so it won’t take too much time. Starts around 36 minutes through the podcast.
I’m still knee-deep in the final draft of Kelly #2, which I’m calling SKINLESS. It features HIV and gas tankers. It’s brutal and fun. When I finish this month, expect regular posts again.

Listened to your story just now. Twice, actually, because I’m not built to do two things at once
. I really enjoyed it, and I think it’s impressive how you stuffed a great character arc into such a small space. Other things I liked: The first paragraph, that the hero called the villain Ryan because he couldn’t pronounce his ‘villain name’, that he hero had never actually witnessed violence before (nice juxtaposition), and your description of the girl who was killed. Thanks for sharing.

Trisha,
Thank you!
A lot.
Glad you noticed those things. That’s one of my favorite lines, showing how it’s usually a game and this is his first real taste of violence.

Janet Reid said it was a worthwhile listen. And by all purposes and intents I would love the chance to hear it. The thing is, a little problem with the fact I’m deaf.
Any chance you can email me a written version? After the lead up by Janet, I’m feeling like I’m missing out on some excellent writing. Just thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask in any case. Indigo
